Sean Sparling

CEO

Sean Sparling joined ISN in 2019 as the Director of Investigations – Northern Ontario. In this role, he lead all operations for ISN across Northern Ontario and was the Case Manager for the more complex files and took on the most sensitive files on behalf of a variety of clients. Sean has over thirty years’ law enforcement experience that includes extensive major crime, human resources, and executive leadership experience. He has brought this acumen to ISN, where he transitioned from Director, to President, and now into the role of CEO of the company with an emphasis on expanding ISN’s reach across Canada.


Sean is also the retired Deputy Chief of Police for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. In that role, he led an organization of 200 men and women, oversaw all human resources operations, managed and adjudicated the internal disciplinary system, trained as a Police Services Act Hearings Officer, acted as a Critical Incident Commander and oversaw all operational aspects of the organization. For over twenty years, Sean specialized in major crime investigations, computer forensics and a variety of other related investigative roles. He also has extensive experience in workplace investigations and a variety of regulatory and quasi-judicial processes. These include participating in matters before the Alcohol and Gaming Commission, the Police Services Act Tribunal, the Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, and conducting investigations under the authority of the Integrity Commissioners (Municipal Act of Ontario) for a variety of municipalities.


Sean also has extensive educational experience, having taught at the Ontario Police College, Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology, facilitated courses at Algoma University, as well as conducting the ISN Investigative Interviewing course and has instructed in a variety of other venues. He has instructed across a wide range of investigative topics including Criminal Investigations, Major Case Management, Drug Investigations, Investigative Interviewing, Cognitive Interviewing, Leadership and Indigenous Engagement, and Police Response to Mental Health and Addictions.
